SERVING GOD DOING GOOD
Once again, we have received a group of American students; they came to work as volunteers in our Day Care Centre “Little Drops of Life” and in the Children’s City.
There were eight young people, all 18 years old, and their Pastor. They were prepared to raise their own support to pay for their flights, stay in the Valley of Blessing and to buy the paint and materials necessary to paint the Day Care Centre. Besides painting, they also had time to play with the children.
To see some playing football, others taking photographs and others singing filled us with joy because of their desire to SERVE GOD, DOING GOOD. We thank God again for His provision. Although none of them could speak Portuguese and none of the children could speak English we could see an atmosphere of joy and unity?
I asked myself this question: What are these young people doing? Playing, working, being volunteers? The answer: They are serving God.
One month ago, during an event in the Children’s City we received more than 30 support families who came to spend the afternoon with the children. These families periodically take the children to spend their holidays or a weekend in their homes. On the day of the event, when a family arrived the Social Worker called a child and introduced them to the family, the child then spent the afternoon playing and participating in the party. The most important thing for them was the presence of those who willingly came to be with them.
On that occasion, I asked myself: What are these families doing? Visiting poor children? Helping to take care of them? Once again the answer: These people are serving God.
Whether they are young Americans or families who come to participate in an event they are sharing their time and love, but we understand that these people have found a way to DO GOOD, SERVING GOD.
Doing good means helping, supporting or investing in an other who is passing through a need. Serving God means when we do all these things with joy we give back to God what He through His mercy has given to us, and because of this, we are serving Him.
Some people have had the opportunity to visit and support us, we praise God for them and intercede for them that God will cover them with His mercy. We need more people to support us; we would like to receive double the number of volunteers and families who come to invest some time with the children.
Many people ask us where we get the resources to maintain the Children’s City, Day Care Centre, New Life House, My Fathers House, the Assisted Liberty programs in São Paulo and Sorocaba and the other social programs. We respond that God has used people who have supported us and sustained us.
We need financial resources, every month we have many commitments and we need to increase the contributions that we receive.
We want to continue helping all of these children, teenagers and their families SERVING GOD AND DOING GOOD.
